Spend a day with us at Dongdaemun

Are you curious about some cute shops to visit in Dongdaemun area? In this blog we’ll take you along with us to some shops!

Dongdaemun beads market

We started off our fun day near exit 9 of Dongdaemun line 4 station at the “Dongdaemun (Beads) market. It’s a little tricky to find the entrance, because there are multiple. In the end we went up to the 5th floor at the B side.

Once we arrived at the right place, the market greeted us with tons of tiny market stations with dozens of beautiful beads and keychains. This market is really the place to be for craft lovers. There is an endless supply of beautiful charms, jibbitz, fabric, hairclips and so on! you could easily get lost in there, because the market is so big. Unless you don’t have a budget, the shopping never ends!

Nail market

Next up we headed over to the ‘Nail market’ located on the 16th floor of ‘Migliore’. For this building you need to enter through the side entrance to find the elevator that takes you up until that floor. The shop is fairly sized but contains a lot of nail supplies which was cool to see. They had everything from nail polishes, charms, fake nails, nail tools and stickers. What amazed me the most was their number of charms on the walls. As someone who frequently gets their nails done, I felt like grabbing a big supply to bring to my next appointment!

Mimiline and Nyu Nyu

After this we went to visit ‘Mimiline’ and ‘Nyu Nyu’ since these shops are right next to each other. Both shops have an overwhelming number of accessories ranging from rings, keychains, charms to bags, hats, and clothing. What’s special about Mimiline, is that on the third floor they have a “beauty and skin care” section where they sell a lot of products, even famous ones, for a cheaper price than you’d find them at Olive young. Of course, we couldn’t leave either shop without stocking up on at least a few accessories and some skin care.

Dongmyo flea market

Before heading to our last destination, we made a quick stop at the ‘Gwangjang market’, as we were getting a little hungry. We replenished ourselves with some Japchae and Kimbap, followed with some bunggeoppang for dessert.

Our last stop was the ‘Dongmyo Flea market’, located right next to Dongmyo station exit 3. If you love thrifting, this is the place for you to be. Usually ‘thrift shops’ in Seoul are more ‘curated vintage’ and the prices could be very high. Here in contrary, you can find cheap pieces ranging from clothing to food, cameras, books, even guitars. If you want to know where the locals go to, and a more ‘authentic’ thrifting experience, we surely recommend visiting this Flea market.
