1) Easy Activation & Identity Verification
To use voice and SMS receiving services, Korean law requires identity verification via passport. This can be completed online immediately after entering South Korea. Data-only usage is possible without verification, but receiving important texts or calls will require the following steps:
- Step 1: Install the eSIM via QR code after entering Korea.
- Step 2: Visit the SKT verification page (skroaming.com/passport).
- Step 3: Enter your mobile number, contract number (found on the voucher), and passport details.
2) Supported Devices and Compatibility
Participants must ensure their device is carrier-unlocked and supports eSIM technology. Generally, the following models are compatible:
- Apple: iPhone XS and newer (including iPhone 15, 16, and latest versions).
- Samsung: Galaxy S20, Note 20, Z Flip/Fold series and newer (Note: Korean-purchased Samsung models may have restrictions).
- Google: Pixel 3 and newer versions.
How to check compatibility: Dial *#06# on your phone. If an “EID” or “eSIM IMEI” appears, your device supports eSIM.
3) Important Usage Reminders
The free voice recharge benefit is discontinued for new orders placed after July 11th. Outgoing calls and SMS are additional paid services and can only be used after completing passport verification. For any technical issues or balance inquiries, users can visit SKT Roaming Centers at Incheon, Gimpo, or Gimhae airports.

Worked perfectly! I activated the QR code before departing to Korea, and the validity triggered only from the moment the eSIM connected to the SK provider once I landed in Seoul (5PM Seoul time, 22nd August). The validity then counts from that moment on for 10x 24 hours, so the SIM only disconnected on the same hour 10 days later (5PM Seoul time, 1st September). Worked perfectly during all my stay.
