The Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival is a traditional celebration held around Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Experience Korea’s royal history through King Jeongjo’s Royal Parade, heritage tours, traditional performances, cultural activities, media art, and vibrant evening events.


Important Booking Notice

Festival programs vary by travel date. The Royal Parade program is scheduled for 4th October, the Media Art program for 5th and 6th October, and the stage performance program for 7th to 10th October. Shuttle service is available until 11th October. Please check the itinerary for your selected date and booking option before completing your reservation.

Set against the historic walls, gates, and palace grounds of Suwon Hwaseong, the festival brings the story of King Jeongjo and Suwon’s cultural heritage to life. Visitors can experience large-scale historical reenactments, traditional performances, guided heritage programs, and contemporary interpretations of royal culture.

King Jeongjo’s Royal Parade (Oct 4th)

Witness one of the festival’s most anticipated historical spectacles. King Jeongjo’s Royal Parade recreates the royal procession with traditional costumes, ceremonial performances, and a lively festival atmosphere throughout the historic area.

Before the parade begins, enjoy free time at the festival venue and prepare to experience Suwon’s royal heritage brought to life on the streets surrounding the fortress.

Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, Haenggung Palace & Media Art (Oct 5th & 6th)

Explore Suwon Hwaseong Fortress and Suwon Hwaseong Haenggung Palace while learning about the city’s history and royal heritage. The program also includes time to enjoy festival activities, local food, and the historic surroundings.

In the evening, follow the fortress walls to the Media Art area, where light and visual storytelling transform the historic setting into a memorable nighttime experience.

Suwon Hwaseong Fortress

Suwon Hwaseong is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Suwon, South Korea. Built in the late 18th century by King Jeongjo, the fortress and palace complex features historic gates, walls, watchtowers, and military facilities. Visitors can walk through the heritage site and discover the architectural beauty of one of Korea’s most important historic landmarks.

Festival & Suwon Fantasy: Yajo (Oct 7th to 10th)

Visit Suwon Hwaseong Haenggung Palace before enjoying the festival’s cultural programs, performances, and food at your own pace. As evening falls, the historic surroundings become the stage for one of the festival’s signature nighttime productions.
