Mt. Seorak area (설악산)
Seoraksan (Mt. Seorak) is about 3 hours away from Seoul and loved by many for fall foliage views. It is the third highest mountain in Korea, after Mt.Hanla and Mt. Jiri. The latter ones are very far away from Seoul, compared to Mount Seorak.

Sinheungsa Temple (신흥사)+ The Great Bronze
Sinheungsa Temple, with its meaning of “Spirit Arising Temple” in English, is the oldest Zen (Seon) temple in the world, and definitely one of Korea’s most scenic area. It is surrounded by mountains and you will be able to see the amazing views of the mountain in different shades of the fall foliage. Sinheungsa Temple is one of the most beautifully situated temples in all of Korea. In addition to all the natural beauty is the masterful 18.9 meters tall bronze statue of the Buddha called the Great Bronze
Biryongpokpo (Biryong Falls, 비룡폭포)
The falling water of the loud and magnificent Biryongpokpo Falls looks very much like dragons flying up towards the sky, which is why it was given the name Biryong (flying dragon). The frozen waterfall in winter is another magnificent sight.
Gwongeumseong Fortress(권금성) and Mt. Seorak cable car (설악케이블카)
Will take you up the mountains giving you a wide view of the foliage. Gwongeumseong Fortress is the site of a castle ruin located on Seoraksan Mountain. You will get the chance to learn about the history of this great fortress.

Difficult to give any higher rating as we had missed this tour! the tour operator contacted us at 7.10am to ask where we were, (having misread the stop for pickup!) and i only realised this mistake at 7.10am itself! took 15 mins for us to get from dongdaemun to myeongdong, but the bus left at 7.20am saying they couldnt wait for us any longer! I appreciate it was our mistake – but only 5 minutes more then I would have been a super happy customer! Note: this fall tour is VERY BUSY – the roads are jammed, and journey can be quite long – so i understand the reason they left, but they could have given us options. I realised later I could have tried to go meet them there etc via public bus. anyway. you HAVE to be on time, otherwise they will leave you behind.

Our group generally enjoyed the tour. Seoraksan is beautiful! The weather was perfect— sunny but chilly. we even experienced a light snow on the observation deck and observed ice on the ground from the night before. The temple and bronze buddha were interesting to visit. At the gift shop, we enjoyed free herbal tea with the mooncakes we bought. Our guide, Midori, was very careful to keep tabs on all of us and keep us on schedule. She gave us a brief background on the park and the mountain while we were on the bus. It would have been nice to hear more info about the place and local stories of the area. Lunch was simple but filling. We were told we were getting a bibimbap lunch but what we got was something more akin to Kimbap… which was easier to eat. Im glad we had the chance to witness the height of Seoraksan’s beauty in Autumn!

It was a very well organized trip. The location was great but it would have been better in the mid-October when there is the pick of Autumn foliage. But the from the point of view of organization it was very nice. The tour guide Midory was very friendly, speaks English very well and also very informative. The lunch could have been better a bit. Overall, I will certainly recommended the trip but in early to mid October.

Very well-organised tour. Our tour guide – Midori, is very friendly, professional and helpful. She went an extra mile to help us take photos and answer our questions regarding our trip. Tour guide Midori was organised and good at her job. I thought she’s Japanese but she’s also fluent in Chinese? 😮 I loved my walk through the base of seoraksan through the autumn trees. The rainy weather spoilt the ascent to the top though

Very nice tour. The company accomodated us, and many others, by adding an additional bus. Fall colors were awesome and the guide was very friendly and spoke good English. Cool to have gimbap for lunch on the trail.
